How Did All These MAGA Figure Heads Get So Mad at Bad Bunny If They ‘Didn’t Watch It’?

The Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show was always going to create a stir.
Despite being unerringly positive and not mentioning the current administration’s violent and unconstitutional excesses, instead focusing on the positive elements of Latino and American culture, it has still caused outrage among conservative commentators. Megyn Kelly went on an unhinged rant to Piers Morgan, which ended with her claiming the Super Bowl halftime show needed to contain meatloaf. Nick Adams posted that he hadn’t “met a single person who will be watching the Bad Bunny Halftime Show,” alleging they would be “watching Kid Rock enthusiastically.”
Adams claims to be Donald Trump’s favourite author, which probably isn’t the flex he thinks it is given Trump’s notoriously poor literacy. This might explain his inability to grasp basic things, like the fact 100 million is larger than six million.
The deluge of angry commentary from right wing talking heads about this also contradicts the claim from Adams. The seeming desire of conservatives to take in the Bad Bunny show goes all the way to the top, with footage appearing to show guests at Mar-a-Lago’s Super Bowl party watching the Bad Bunny performance instead of tuning in to Turning Point’s alternative. It is unknown whether those in attendance at Trump’s residence and Jeffery Epstein’s former recruiting ground requested this, or were simply too lazy to change the channel.
Trump also went on a customary Truth Social rant about the Puerto Rican, but even that was a middling tirade at best. Perhaps he had used up his hatred for the week on his racist Obama video, or maybe even he couldn’t muster up the energy to tell a lie that big.
While it’s nice to think the NFL invited the Puerto Rican to do the Super Bowl halftime show as a statement against the horrors of the current administration, the likely reason is growing their audience internationally, and therefore their opportunity for profit. Now, if there’s an idea the current Republican party can get behind, it’s not caring about hypocrisy if they can make a quick buck. Maybe that’s why they all tuned in.
