Melania Trump’s movie was already in trouble, but with director Brett Ratner tied to Epstein documents, its box office fate is sealed

The documentary about Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, is struggling at the box office. Reports from last week suggested that only one ticket was sold for its premiere at a popular VUE location, just before its release on Friday in the UK. The film has once again become the subject of a new controversy (this one undoubtedly more serious than the former) due to the latest developments in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
On Friday, the United States Department of Justice released over 3 million pages from the Jeffrey Epstein Files and other documents pertaining to his case, along with over 180,000 images and more than 2,000 videos that saw influential people being namedropped, pictured, and videographed. Among them, a hard-to-miss individual was Brett Ratner, who recently directed Melania, a documentary about Melania Trump, spotlighting the events in her life in the 20 days before her husband, Donald Trump, assumed office as President of the United States for a second term in 2025.
Brett Ratner, who was earlier accused of sexual misconduct and assault by multiple women, has emerged in at least two images that were released by the Department of Justice on Friday as part of the Epstein investigation. In one image, he is seen hugging a young woman from behind, her face obscured to protect her identity, with Epstein sitting next to her and another woman sitting next to him. In another image, he is photographed with Jean-Luc Brunel, a sexual predator who had been accused of pimping and sexual assault before taking his own life. In this photo, Ratner is seated and embracing the shirtless Brunel by the torso.
Brett Ratner’s appearance in the Epstein investigation-related photographs has sparked considerable public outrage. This is because the Trumps have not only supported him despite numerous sexual assault allegations he had faced earlier, but have also remained silent as his name surfaced in connection with the Epstein probe. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that Donald Trump’s name has also appeared multiple times in the Epstein Files, alongside several women who have accused him of sexual assault. Afterall, birds of a feather do flock together!
It’s only a matter of time before Trump starts dismissing everything surrounding the Epstein case as a hoax. He might already be doing that. Nevertheless, I believe that people are now wise enough to recognise when they are being misled and when the truth is being told.
