According to authorities, Gad’s disappearance is connected to his friend and occasional co-star DeMar “Doorman” Davis. Davis, whose nickname stems from his days as a bouncer at a Los Angeles-area nightclub, has since become a viral sensation thanks to his superpowers. His body can be used to transport objects, and even people, through solid matter. At first, this urned him into a local hero, after he rescued hundreds of people from the nightclub he used to work at. Gad then hired him as his personal security detail, and eventually got him his big break onscreen.

Gad’s disappearance reportedly stems from an incident that occurred on the set of his latest film, Cash Grab 2. The highly-anticipated sequel to his and Davis’ first onscreen collaboration, Gad allegedly went missing after Davis’ powers were utilized during a scene. According to sources tied to the production, Gad attempted to use the Doorman abilities so his character could flee the scene of a bank robbery, but Davis’ use of the powers malfunctioned in the moment. Davis reportedly threw up immediately after, and Gad has not been seen since.

So… where is he? Is Gad in the Doorman “void” that some say Davis’ powers tap into? Did the powers throw him into a completely different location altogether, and now he can’t get back to civilization? Could Gad be floating among the vastness of space? The exact nature of Davis’ powers remain woefully mysterious, with the doorman-turned-actor previously stating that he got them from touching a mysterious substance emitting from a Los Angeles dumpster. So there’s really no way of scientifically knowing what happened to Gad… a fact that is already drawing ire among authorities and fans alike.

Either way, the theories are already swirling, and they’re sure to continue as more time passes and the actor’s absence is felt, across the industry and beyond.

All episodes of Wonder Man are now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
