Woman orders $100 sweatpants from Aritzia. The stains are so bad she’s now demanding answers: ‘For that price point? Absolutely not’
A woman drops $100 for a brown pair of Aritzia Sweatfleece cargo sweatpants and wears them once. She’s disappointed with the state of the fabric before she even puts them in the wash for the first time.
In a video with over 7,000 views, TikToker Sarah Blue (@sarah.blue.__) breaks away from her usual gym content to rant about what happened to her Aritzia sweatpants.
“Why is it everytime you get new sweatpants from them you get tiny little grease stains all over?” she questions. “Look at them! I just got these.”
She points out small dark patches throughout the leg of sweatpants.
Blue remarks that the $100 aren’t “cheap” and wonders why the stains appear before being washed. She also notes that the stains seem to set after she washes the pants.
“Aritzia, you need to fix this issue because its so frustrating,” she says at the end of the clip.
Why did the sweatpants stain so badly?
The mysterious stains on new Aritzia sweatpants has been a hot topic on the r/Aritzia subreddit as early as 2022. Many shoppers complain of the same issue as Blue, seeing their new pants spotted with grease-like splotches.
“I washed my brand new sweats (inside out, in cold water) and when I took them out of the laundry I noticed there’s these ink looking stains everywhere,” one Redditor wrote in 2022. “I’m guessing it came from other clothes in the wash but wtf.”
Another user posts a picture of a similar stain on gray Aritzia sweatpants in 2024, questioning where it came from as they don’t recall spilling anything on the pants.
On several of the Reddit threads, shoppers suggest that the stains could be a result of pouring liquid detergent directly onto the clothing. And some even offer solutions for the annoying stains.
“Oxiclean, spot treat if manageable or just soak it in a large amount of oxiclean solution. Wait 24 hours (or above) and follow with regular washing process,” one suggests.
Another writes, “I’ve stained my white TNA Eclipse top multiple times, and the one thing that has gotten the stains out for me is dish soap!!”
Are Aritzia sweats worth the price?
In the comments of Blue’s TikTok, viewers suggest that the pricey sweatpants may not be worth the trouble.
“I only wear American eagle sweatsuits now and love them. Always on sale and wash no problem,” one writes.
A second comments, “For that price point? Absolutely not. You should not be getting those types of stains… does it have specific wash requirements?”
“I’m glad I couldnt afford them,” a third jokes.
A fourth suggests a “dupe” for the sweatpants. They write, “If you want the exact dupe of aritzia and not the [expletive] quality then garage is the best. also every colour you could think of but not the annoying confusion of aritzia website.”
However, some say they haven’t noticed stains on any of their new Aritzia Sweatfleece items.
“I have many and never had that happen,” a commenter remarks.
“I’ve never had it happen but I suppose that doesn’t mean it’s impossible! That suckssss :(” another writes.
