‘I fear this isn’t the first time he’s done this’: Atlanta man gets his girlfriend a ‘rare vintage’ Coach purse. It doesn’t go as planned
An Atlanta man tries to surprise his girlfriend with a vintage Coach bag. However, she expresses her disappointment when she realizes he misheard the name of the bag she really wanted.
TikToker Wunderr (@wunderr_) posts several videos leading up to his girlfriend’s birthday, noting that all she asked for was a Coach Tabby bag.
“Coach Tabby? Coach Tammy? Something about Coach Tabby,” he says, appearing confused as to what bag she really wants. He holds up a gym bag for “coaching.”
In a follow-up video, she yells at him in the car, accusing him of “always playing” while holding the gym bag.
“Do I look like I do any type of sports?” she exclaims.
Did he eventually get her the right coach bag?
In a third video, he unwraps a genuine Coach vintage bag. The bag is pink, with a silver chain of charms and a cherry pendant. However, he soon learns that he still didn’t get her the right gift.
In a video with over 6.5 million views, his girlfriend holds the vintage Coach bag in the car. She says the bag is nice, but laments that it’s still not the Coach Tabby she asked for.
Coach Tabby bags retail for around $450 and are made of genuine leather. The bright pink vintage bag he gifts her is made of fabric.
“It’s Coach Tabitha,” he jokes.
She tells him she doesn’t like the bag, sounding dejected.
“It’s a cute purse, it’s just not what I asked for,” she tells Wunderr. “I feel like once again, you’re playing with me.”
Wunderr counters that the vintage purse is “1 of 1,” and she won’t see other people walking around with the same bag.

Eventually, she gives in and says she likes the bag, but doesn’t sound enthusiastic about the gift.
Should he have stuck to her actual wishlist?
The TikToker may have genuinely been confused about which purse his girlfriend wanted. However, there may be real relationship consequences to constantly ignoring partners’ expectations.
On the subreddit r/AmItheJerk, a woman says she questions the effort her boyfriend puts into the relationship after a string of seemingly thoughtless gifts that strayed from her wishlist.
“He talks about wanting to marry me and have kids, but, if he’s this stingy and careless about gifts, how am I supposed to picture a future with him?” the poster asks.
In the comments, many women agree that gift-giving is a tangible way for a partner to show them that they’re listening to their wants. If their partner strays too far from the wishlist, they may feel unheard and unvalued.
How did viewers react to the vintage bag?
Commenters on Wunderr’s video suggest that he didn’t take the time to even Google the bag that his girlfriend asked for. They note that the Tabby is one of Coach’s most popular and well-known bags—not a niche request that would have sent him on a mad hunt for the right purse.
“Ohhh… you’ve pulled this stunt before. Men who know what their girl wants and go out of their way to get you something he knows you didn’t ask OVER N OVER just screams ‘I want to make your moment about ME,'” a commenter says.
Others try to explain to the TikToker why getting the right purse is important.
“If you asked for a ps5 with a dual shock controller for your birthday and I pulled up with a ps2 and said ‘it’s vintage’ for your birthday you’d understand why she isn’t ‘grateful,'” one explains.
Another notes, “This is like asking for a PS5 and she gets you an XBOX.”
“This is guilt tripping bro, she didn’t ask for that gift and now u making her feel bad for not appreciating something she wouldn’t use,” a third adds.
