‘It should offend everyone’: Joe Neguse wants to turn the Democrat blaming narrative into a Trump accusing one as he continues to show record levels of lawlessness

Representative Joe Neguse is firmly opposing Donald Trump and his Republican allies. In a recent conversation regarding the expiration of SNAP benefits, Neguse criticized the Trump administration for not utilizing available emergency funds to ease the impact of the situation. He also emphasized the need to hold Trump and the Republicans accountable, particularly correcting an interviewer who attempted to shift blame from them to the Democrats.

During a notable moment from a press conference held by Joe Neguse on October 31, 2025, which has been trending on social media, an interviewer asked him if his Democrat friends would be willing to engage in discussions with the Republicans to reopen the government so that people could continue to receive their SNAP benefits. Neguse, visibly offended, responded to the interviewer’s question, highlighting that it was framed in a way that unfairly blamed the Democrats for the shutdown and for the government cutting SNAP benefits, neither of which could be directly attributed to the party. Neguse stated:

“Let me ask you a question. The basis for your question, maybe the better way to state it would be if the trump administration continues to violate the law, it is a drug administration unlawfully refuses to release funds so families in colorado do not go hungry, if he trump administration refuses to follow the law as they have for the better course of the last nine months violating statute after statute, is in that scenario these actions unfold, how will democrats respond?”

He then went on to elaborate on the unprecedented levels of “lawlessness” exhibited by Donald Trump and the Republicans since the start of this year, coinciding with Trump’s second presidential victory. He mentioned the absence of House Republicans from office, noting that they have been missing for about six weeks in the capital city of the United States, Washington DC. He remarked:

“The passion you hear is frustration with the fact that republicans can just simply abandon their post for six weeks. That’s a trump administration can just violate the law without consequence. It should offend everyone. It certainly offends me. ”
