20 years of Fantastic Fest women: Kerry Condon

Fantastic Fest isn’t just about horror movies. The genre festival allows all types of films a chance to thrive and have their moment to shine. Which is why it was cool that Kerry Condon was able to head to Austin to celebrate her film, The Banshees of Inisherin.

Back in 2022, Condon attended the festival with the Martin McDonagh film. The movie is set in Ireland and follows the friendship between Pádraic Súilleabháin (Colin Farrell) and Colm Doherty (Brendan Gleeson). The two used to be close but when Colm suddenly doesn’t want anything todo with Pádraic, it forces the two to navigate the small coastal city together while at odds.

Condon plays Pádraic’s sister, Siobhán Súilleabháin. She tries to talk sense into the situation but when Colm gets it in his head that he’s done with his friendship, that’s kind of it. And if you’ve seen The Banshees of Inisherin, you know that it just goes off the rails quite quickly.

At the festival, Condon joined fans to celebrate the film and attended in honor of it! Since, she’s gone on to star in movies like the recent F1: The Movie and more. But heading to Fantastic Fest to celebrate the film is kind of fun. It isn’t a horror movie but it is very much a movie that plays with genre in an interesting way.

At times, it is serious and upsetting but then it is also hilarious so why not celebrate it at a place like this fest? Fantastic Fest is less than a week away! We have a few more amazing women to spotlight and it is exciting to know how soon we’ll be in Austin celebrating our new genre films. You can see the rest of the women we’ve celebrated here and get ready for the festival on its 20th birthday!
