Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher in The Summer I Turned Pretty

Amazon Sets Release Window for Supersized ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Season 3

It has been almost two years since The Summer I Turned Pretty premiered and became one of the biggest teen romance series of the year. After the show followed up with an equally successful season 2, viewers will be anxious to know when the third and final season will arrive.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the book series of the same name by Jenny Han, who is also the author behind the To All The Boys series. It follows Belly Conklin (Lola Tung), who spends every summer with her family and the Fishers at Cousins Beach. For years, Belly has harbored a crush on Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), but it went unrequited until the summer she turned sixteen, and he realizes she’s not a little kid anymore. However, things get complicated when she learns Conrad’s brother, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), may have feelings for her, too.

The first season adapted the first book in Han’s series, while season 2 adapted book 2. Season 3 will tackle the third and final book to close the show. Readers will be especially interested in and potentially wary of the new season as the third book includes some heartbreaking moments and betrayals. Needless to say, season 3 promises to be the most intense and gutwrenching one yet, and viewers can hardly wait for its arrival.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 does not have an official release date yet, but Amazon recently confirmed the series won’t arrive until sometime in the summer of 2025. However, the news isn’t all bad, as the streamer paired it with the announcement that season 3 has finally begun filming. Additionally, it announced the episode count for season 3. Instead of the typical 7 – 8 episodes, viewers are getting a supersized final season with 11 episodes.

Meanwhile, most were anticipating a 2025 release date even before the announcement, as months went by without filming commencing. When The Summer I Turned Pretty star Gavin Casalegno was asked about season 3, he revealed he had no idea when filming would start and that it could be as late as October or July. He told Entertainment Tonight, “I think we’re filming in March. I have zero idea of a script. I don’t even know. It could even be, like, filming in October or July. I’m just going off rumors. Sometime this year. Hopefully soon. I hope. That’s all I got for you.”

Even if filming had started back in March, it still would’ve been a stretch to get season 3 to the screen before the end of the year. As a result, while some held onto the hope of a very late 2024 release, most acknowledged that a 2025 release sounded more plausible. Now, at least, viewers have an official release window and can rest assured that filming for the final season has begun.
