Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Trailer Looks Ridiculous and I’m So Down to Watch

Hit me, baby. One more time!

Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Salma Hayek are back in the sequel to the Hitman’s Bodyguard, aptly titled the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, with Hayek’s Sonia pulling Reynolds’ Michael Bryce back into the action. And personally, I’m here for it.

Sonia approaches Michael Bryce to help her find her kidnapped husband Darius Kincaid, played by Jackson. “Approaches” might be a little too kind. Sonia legit grips Michael and drags him into the mystery of what happened to her husband, and you can tell that Bryce isn’t happy and that he’s worried about his sabbatical from the first seconds of their team-up.

Things only get worse from there when this volatile group gets tangled in a global plot. Soon, they find themselves between Europe and a vengeful and powerful madman played by Antonio Banderas. In a surprising twist, the official synopsis for the sequel also features Morgan Freeman in a secret role that you just have to wait to see.

The official synopsis for the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is below:

The world’s most lethal odd couple – bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) and hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) – are back on another life- threatening mission. Still unlicensed and under scrutiny, Bryce is forced into action by Darius’s even more volatile wife, the infamous international con artist Sonia Kincaid (Salma Hayek). As Bryce is driven over the edge by his two most dangerous protectees, the trio get in over their heads in a global plot and soon find that they are all that stand between Europe and a vengeful and powerful madman (Antonio Banderas). Joining in the fun and deadly mayhem is Morgan Freeman as…well, you’ll have to see.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, which stole my heart with its Britney Spears trailer music and honest ridiculousness, was originally slated to be released on August 28, 2020. But due to COVID-19 restrictions and the pandemic in general, it had to be moved to almost a year later. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is set to be released in theaters on June 16, 2021.
