Things We Saw Today: In Which Jake Johnson Reads Thirst Tweets

Recommended Videos

Sometimes, you just want to tweet about your love for New Girl’s Jake Johnson, and sometimes, he’ll then turn around and read them on Buzzfeed’s segment where celebrities read thirst tweets. The thing about Jake Johnson’s video is that it is so wonderfully uncomfortable—because Jake Johnson, like so many of us, cannot take a compliment.

(Possibly NSFW-ish audio follows if you are somewhere with others around!)

This also comes on the heels of Pajiba writing up how funny Jake Johnson is on podcasts. But where does this sudden abundance of love for Jake Johnson come from? Well … in short, him. Jake Johnson entered the pop-cultural consciousness as a character that many of us would gladly fall in love with (yes, I’m talking about Nick Miller from New Girl), securing him in our affection. His most recent project is Netflix’s Hoops, where he apparently plays a foul-mouthed, “slutty” coach, to quote one of the thirst tweets. Johnson has continued to be an amazing actor and an all-around hilarious and kind human being.

Right now, in the midst of the pandemic, he’s been helping kids cope with being stuck inside by recording messages for them as his character Peter B. Parker from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Jake Johnson is a fun guy and he’s making being stuck inside a bit more fun for all of us, so let’s thirst tweet about him some more just so we can have a series of these videos. Do it for our souls.
