I’ve been counting down the days for what feels like forever to this weekend’s premiere of Sharp Objects. The HBO series is based on the Gillian Flynn novel of the same name and stars Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson. I’m a big fan of Flynn, and this is my #1 favorite of her novels. The casting is spectacular, and I’m just all-around excited to see it come to screen. (And that comes from someone who has been consistently disappointed by adaptations of her books.)

The book–Flynn’s debut novel–follows Camille Preaker, a journalist who has to return to her claustrophobic small town to investigate a series of murdered and missing girls. It’s a story of darkness and hidden selves. Here’s a great promo to get you in the mood for Sunday’s premiere:

What about you all? How many Mary Suevians have read Flynn’s novel? What did you think? How many of you are looking forward to Sunday?

  • Here’s a big dose of Friday rage: This New York Representative was informed that he could not use his office budget to provide tampons for his staff, the majority of whom are female, and is being forced to reimburse the House Finance Office for the cost of this “personal care item.” Do we think he has to pay for his staff’s handsoap? Paper towels? What exactly makes tampons an “inappropriate” cost? (Just kidding, we all know the answer to that. It’s vaginas.)

Happy Friday, everybody!
