Han and Chewie Meet in Newest Solo TV Spot

Solo has been through a lot. The rumors, regardless if they are real or part of some bizarre PR campaign to lower our expectations, will play a role in how people come into the film and how critics will eventually receive it.

Personally, I can’t say I’m excited about a “Han Solo movie,” but it is, above all, a Star Wars movie, and the newest trailer, which delivers some Chewie/Han goodness, reminds me that it’s the bond between characters in this franchise that I love most of all. Despite Alden Ehrenreich not being able to perfectly emulate the voice of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo, he seems to have a bit of the swagger down, and in the few comedic bits we see during the trailer, he nails it.

Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan has referred to this movie as “a love story between Han and Chewie” and “a bromance.” Which, honestly, makes me more eager than anything else to see it. “Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy.”

Chewie’s sad cry in The Force Awakens will probably only seem more painful as we take this look back in time at the early part of their friendship, so soon after witnessing the end of it.

In addition to the seeds of the Hanbacca bromance, we also get the inception of the other great bromance of Han’s life, Han and Lando Calrissian, in shots of the sabacc game between the two smooth rogues.

“I will say that their relationship is many different things. As it is when you see them in the originals,” Alden Ehrenreich said, adding that, “I think they have very different styles.”

After watching this tv spot and going through some more trailers, I can’t say for sure what the end result is gonna be, but like Han, I’m just gonna be positive and say, “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

I mean if anything, we’re finally gonna get more Lando Calrissian, and that’s probably the only thing that can make up for the lack of Finn in TLJ.
