UPDATE: Fandango has confirmed on the macro scale what the NYC Alamo Drafthouse observed on the micro. Black Panther sold the most presale tickets in its first 24 hours of any Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie. We’ll have to see if the trend continues as presales continue, but that’s pretty darn impressive. “Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now,” said Fandango editor Erik Davis. “It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)

The final trailer for Black Panther has landed! We get to see some more action scenes, some more of Shuri teasing her brother, and some more of the Dora Milaje running into battle. The set and costume design look as unreal as ever. It’s all the good stuff, TMSers.

As ever with the Mouse’s marketing machine, this trailer is also perfectly timed to coincide with the release of advance ticket sales. The tickets are reportedly going super quickly at some locations, so if you want opening night seats, you might want to move fast. The Alamo Drafthouse in New York City called it their “fast selling non-Star Wars movie so far,” and we all know how quickly those Star Wars screenings have filled up.

Even Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is excited for this movie to be a box office bonanza, though it will mean giving up his record to a new highest-grossing MCU origin film.

If, as you’re buying your ticket, you’d like to help young people see the film as well, you can donate to this fundraiser to help kids in Harlem go see Black Panther for free, or this fundraiser to host a screening for low-income kids in Michigan to see it for free. Both have already reached their goals and are in stretch funding, but representation is always a worthy cause.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Angela Bassett, Chadwick Boseman, Winston Duke, Martin Freeman, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Forest Whitaker, and Letitia Wright, Black Panther arrives in theaters on Friday, February 16.
