Chris Hemsworth Shares an Improvised Thor: Ragnarok Scene

Giving Taika Waititi the space to go "out there" with Thor: Ragnarok was definitely a good choice.

We’ve been looking forward to Thor: Ragnarok for a while and it’s looking to be one of the best superhero hero movies ever with its amazing team consisting of talents like Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Goldblum, and too many more to name.

Hopefully, Thor: Ragnarok will be a great example of a film that takes a different approach (director Taika Waititi has said he “made an effort to ignore the fact that there are other Thor films”) and creates something incredible as a result. Chris Hemsworth appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to share a clip from Thor: Ragnarok that includes Waititi’s Korg and talk a bit about the approach the film took to Thor.

From the clips of the interview, it’s clear that Hemsworth has a lot of respect for Waititi and the opportunity they had to “change this up in a big way.” Hiring Waititi and giving him the space to go “out there” was definitely a good call, it seems. Hemsworth describes the process, saying:

“Every day was about exploring the unknown and trying something different, and I got pretty bored of myself as that character, and so did he…so we thought, let’s do something different. Everyday was improvised and a journey into somewhere we hadn’t been.”

The result is scenes like the one above, which the actor explains began with the team playing with weapons the crafty art department created for an initially short scene. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the film has in store! On another note: Hemsworth is pulling off that amazing green velvet jacket and I need to know where I can get a cheap knock-off version immediately?
