Report: Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Passes Away, Suspected Suicide

Recommended Videos

According to reports from TMZ, Noisey, The Hollywood Reporter, and the Associated Press, Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park, has passed away. Authorities believe Bennington took his own life, committing suicide by hanging himself. He leaves behind his wife and six children. He was 41 years old.

I shouldn’t have to say it, but I’m going to go ahead and say it here anyway: maybe hold off on the jokes about sad music vis a vis Bennington’s passing. Yes, Linkin Park made some angsty music. No, that doesn’t mean you’re allowed to make fun of someone’s death with said music. Just don’t.

I’d like to also go ahead and take the opportunity here to go ahead and say that if you’re dealing with suicidal thoughts or ideation, there’s help waiting for you. You certainly are not alone.

If you’re currently struggling with such thoughts, please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or you can go to their online chat if you don’t feel like talking out loud.
