RollerCoaster Tycoon AKA Build-a-Torture-Death-Trap Now on iOS and Android

When I think about games in my childhood, RollerCoaster Tycoon is both a fond memory and a horrifying realization about the dark parts of the human soul. In addition to building a wildly successful park, I’d also create small areas of fenced-off land where I’d dump unhappy visitors with a dancing mascot and food just out of reach. Hey, maybe Westworld was onto something.

Anyway, if you were a fan of the classic game, you can now drown visitors in a park of your own design on your phones and tablets for $5.99. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a combination of the first two installments in the classic, released in 1999 and 2002 originally for Windows PC. That’s not to say there aren’t some improvements. While the game will retain the same look, Origin8 Technologies have made sure the controls will be more suitable for mobile devices.

Developer Chris Sawyer, who worked as a producer on the game said in a news release, “I have seen how much excitement and entertainment they have brought to players all over the world. It was my long term ambition to bring the classic game to modern touch screen devices as its visual style and tactile nature are so well suited to smartphones and tablets.”

You can start building your park by heading to the App Store and Google Play. Are you going to design some new rides?
