Marvel TV has a lot on the way in the future, but most of that is on Netflix, leaving Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to hold down the fort on network television. (We miss you, Agent Carter.) That won’t be the case for much longer, though, as they’ll be bringing an Inhumans show to ABC in the fall of 2017.
We still don’t know much about it, though, as Marvel announced the show in a rather odd release that focused more on their cross-platform marketing initiative with IMAX than anything else about the show. Basically, the series, all shot with IMAX cameras, will debut in IMAX theaters in the first two weeks of September 2017 before airing weekly on ABC. This is how the describe the actual content of the show:
“The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Marvel’s The Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.”
What’s worth noting is that this is not a S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off (not directly, anyway), nor is it the planned Inhumans movie that Marvel pulled from its schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will be a separate group of Inhumans in their own storyline. But, like, who cares about the story or creative team or actors or anything. Are you all excited for this “first-of-its-kind multi-platform production”!?
