Charlize Theron, Diablo Cody, and Jason Reitman Reteam on Motherhood Film

Recommended Videos

When last they worked together, Charlize Theron gave a critically-acclaimed performance in the Diablo Cody-penned Young Adult back in 2011, which was directed by Jason Reitman. This, of course, was after Cody and Reitman first teamed up on their breakout hit Juno back in 2007. Now, the trio is teaming up again!

Details are scant right now, but according to Deadline Hollywood, Theron is set to star in an upcoming film penned by Cody that will be directed by Reitman. No information about the plot has been released yet, except that the film is apparently about motherhood. Though, knowing the work of all three principal players, it’s unlikely that this will be your run-of-the-mill take on the subject.

Cody tends to come at topics from an unusual, askew angle. Meanwhile, if you’ve seen Reitman’s show Casual, on Hulu, or remember Juno, you know that he is adept at crafting non-traditional families. And Theron is one of those actresses who consistently brings a fierce intelligence to every role she plays.

Do I wish this film had a female director? Of course I do. But there’s something to be said for building a collaborative relationship. Cody and Reitman seem to get each other, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table next.
