Gal Gadot Discusses Wonder Woman, Princesses & Heroism On Ellen

Gal Gadot’s press tour for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has brought her to Ellen, where she shares the adorable story of how she auditioned for her role without knowing what it was. When Zack Snyder finally told her that she was in consideration for freakin’ Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot tried her best to keep her composure.

Zack calls me, saying, “I’m not sure if you have it in Israel, but did you ever hear about Wonder Woman?” Then I went dead for, like, five seconds, came back to life, and I tried to pull off my coolest voice, saying, “Pffft. Wonder Woman? Yeah. Yeah, I’ve heard of her.”

Ellen also showed off a picture of herself photoshopped as Wonder Woman, which Gadot said made her feel “very threatened, because you’re Wonder Woman!”

Gadot then went on to describe how her 4-year-old daughter feels about Wonder Woman. Gadot’s daughter likes to play “dress-up,” but she doesn’t yet understand the role that her mother has taken on, beyond that her mother plays “dress-up” as Wonder Woman — and that her mother gets to wear a tiara, like royalty! Gadot’s daughter loves the idea of a powerful princess:

One time I was telling her a story. And she says, “The prince is always so brave and courageous and strong.” And then I ask her, “Well, what do you think about the princess?” She said, “Meh.” I ask her, “Why do you say that?” And she says, “They always fall asleep! Then the prince is the one to wake them up. And they do nothing.” … Anyway, it made me feel good about playing Wonder Woman!

When Gal Gadot’s daughter gets old enough to understand that her mother plays “dress-up” as Princess Diana of Themyscira, it’s gonna blow her mind.
