Tom Hiddleston Asks to Play James Bond in the Most Polite Way Possible

Recommended Videos

I’m not sure if I can handle a polite James Bond. Yet here we are, with Tom Hiddleston talking about how he’d like to play James Bond–if he were just asked, you know. Geez, the man can’t even talk about wanting to play a role without killing everyone with his politeness. You are special, you know that?

Hiddleston was chatting with The Sunday Times when the idea of playing Bond came up. The original article is behind a paywall, but Hiddleston said:

I simply love the theme tune, the tropes, and the mythology. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity … I would not take it lightly.

I imagine being asked to play Bond is a lot like being invited to join a secret society. There’s something super special about it, but you can’t appear too eager, lest they deem you uncool enough for the role or something. It is, after all, a very special club…

If rumors are to be believed, then Hiddleston might be on a shortlist to take over after Daniel Craig, joining Idris Elba and Tom Hardy (among others) as possible favorites for the role. Don’t forget: Hiddleston also originally auditioned for Thor, but ended up playing Loki. Maybe this time around he’ll catch the lead.

What do you think? Would Hiddleston make a good Bond?
