Massive All-Women Off-Road “Rebelle Rally” Promises Proper Adventuring

Recommended Videos

If you combined Wacky Races, the Gumball 3000, Mad Max: Fury Road, and a bunch of badass adventurer women, you’d get something like the Rebelle Rally. It’s an off-road rally race specifically offered to women only. The goal of the rally is to take the historically phallically-encrusted sport of racing and introduce it to more women. This event is oriented more towards accomplishing navigation challenges without the use of computer aids like cell phones or GPS.

The women will have only a compass, a map, and a roadbook to guide them through unforgiving terrain where they have to navigate to hidden checkpoints while racing other teams who are trying to do the same.

It sounds like one hell of an adventure, to be completely honest. It’s something I’d totally be doing if the $5,000 entry wasn’t, you know, a thing. Hell, the folks behind the contest are making it super easy for folks to join because they’re even providing rentals for people who want to drive but might not own a car that qualifies. Even then, the bar for qualification is pretty low–you just need a street legal “4×4” or “crossover” class car. That’s it.

According to Jalopnik, the event’s organizer, off-road pro Emily Miller said this about the event’s aims and goals:

My goal is for women to sharpen and refine their capabilities and build the confidence and skill set to take on future journeys – wherever they may lead.

The sport of off-road, the vastness of the open desert, and the lessons of precise navigation have had a profound impact on my life and the lives of many others. Our team is excited to share this and build a platform for women to shine.

If you and a pal are looking for adventure (and you’ve got $5,000 plus a car plus gas money), then maybe you should head on over to the Rebelle Rally official website to check out how to register.

See you off-road.
