Welcome to The House of El, a new video series where I’ll go beyond the Supergirl recap, delve a little into the DC Comics source material and other incarnations of the character, and hone in on a topic from that week’s episode of CBS’ Supergirl that I find interesting, annoying, or that really sticks in my craw. Wherever my “craw” is.
This week, Episode Six of Supergirl‘s first season dealt with anger and how the various characters on the show deal with that most unpredictable of emotions. “Red Faced” not only explores the gendered and racial double-standards placed on women and people of color with regard to how they deal with anger, but it also allows James Olsen a chance to shine as an example of someone who handles anger in a balanced, non-destructive way.
What did you think about what Kara learned about anger in this week’s episode? Is there a character in this episode that “got it right” when it comes to dealing with their anger, or do you think they all still have work to do? And what do you do to cope with your emotions when you feel anger bubbling up inside you? You know, after you break stuff like in the Limp Bizkit song.
