Infinity Points to This Special Needs Teacher for Her Harry Potter Classrom Decor

As muggle children everywhere return to school over the coming weeks, most of them are probably going to be disappointed when an owl doesn’t show up to transfer them to Hogwarts, but some kids will be in luck thanks to their awesome teacher. Stephanie Stevens, an 8th grade teacher in Oklahoma City, has turned her classroom into her own miniature wizarding world.

Harry Potter classroom!

As you can see in the photos uploaded to Imgur, Stevens included classroom flourishes like a potions station, a platform 9 3/4 doorway, a three-headed dog, and a prefect desk—she explained to ABC News, “A student is chosen for the prefect desk by following our school beliefs: ‘Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Prompt.’ The students are very excited about the chance to be a prefect.”

The special needs teacher plans on using the Hogwarts house championship scoring system to motivate her students with rewards for good behavior, and she sees the classroom as a great way to encourage a love of reading just like the Potter books themselves. She said

One of the toughest things as a reading teacher is instilling a love of reading in students that do not like reading. This year, I chose to go with a Harry Potter theme because if I am excited and enthusiastic, students tend to follow suit. My goal is to help students find at least one book or genre that they can find exciting and be as enthusiastic about as I am regarding Harry Potter.

Infinity points to Stephanie Stevens, the Teacher Who Ruled.
