WB Confirms Batman v Superman Screenings and the Reason the Movie Was Delayed

Not the movie we need right now.

The Internet recently learned that Warner Bros. had screened Batman v Superman internally at the studio, and people apparently loved it. While rumors of standing ovations may still be greatly exaggerated, a Warner Bros. executive has confirmed that the screenings took place—and that the movie was bumped from 2015 to 2016 to make improvements.

Delaying a movie because it’s not good enough to build an entire film universe around might sound worrisome at first, but WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara is confident that the move payed off. He told The Hollywood Reporter of the decision to move the release date from summer 2015 to March 2016,

It was a tough decision at the time because it was going to create a hole in 2015, but it was absolutely the right decision for the franchise, for DC, and the movie. Having seen the movie multiple times, and again last night, I’m extremely confident it was the right decision to make the movie better. And it’s so important for the studio to get the foundation right on DC.

So take heart, fans. With March still seven months into the future, WB is now confident that Batman v Superman has become the DC universe builder we deserve. Hopefully, pushing it back avoided the messy reshoot situation this sounds like on the surface and allowed the proper time to get it right.
