Agents of SHIELD Ups Bland Generically Handsome White Dude to Series Regular

Oh... kay?

Well… that’s… I mean… okay.

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU’RE NOT UP TO DATE!

Despite the fact that last season Agents of SHIELD , they’ve decided to go ahead and make Luke Mitchell a regular for the third season of the show. Mitchell plays Lincoln, a boring Inhuman who stripped Skye naked without her consent in his first episode, has no real defining personality or characteristics, and whose powers include making people float a couple inches off the ground because electricity.

Basically, Lincoln’s role is to look handsome and to give Skye a reason to still feel connected to the Inhuman community now that her mom is dead. I’m also assuming he’s going to be the first member of Skye’s new all-Inhumans team that Coulson has asked her to “assemble,” so to speak. While I’m glad this (hopefully) effectively ends any potential romance between Skye and Ward, it’s also the most dull casting choice in the history of time.

Maybe, since mutants and Inhumans are an allegory for being different and experiencing bigotry, SHIELD could put some not straight and white characters on Skye’s team? That would be cool.
