New Details Emerge In Avengers: Age of Ultron Character Descriptions

I thought Doctor Claw was just Inspector Gadget's nemesis.

There’s been a real slew of promotional material coming out in preparation for Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s release on May 1st. The campaign onslaught continued yesterday as the official character descriptions came out for each of the Avengers, as well as a few villains.

It’s important to note that there are some nice movie teaser bits in the descriptions, so if you’re saving yourself from finding out too much about the movie, you’ve now been warned.

Obviously it’s pretty hard to focus on just one Avenger, but just like the man himself, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s is a pretty big deal.

Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). Brash but brilliant billionaire Tony Stark returns, still struggling with the emotional fallout from the Battle of New York that took place in The Avengers. Tony is now bankrolling his Super Hero dream-team in an ongoing effort to protect the world from the evil forces that he knows are out there. Stark carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, which leads him to team up with Bruce Banner to create Ultron as the ultimate peacekeeping program.

And Bruce Banner/The Hulk’s description hints at some interesting character developments. Personally, I can’t wait for all the fan fiction about them working together off screen.

Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) is back and ready to be unleashed as The Avengers’ not-so-secret weapon. He has embraced the Hulk and is now an important part of the team, although surprising protocols have been put in place to make sure Hulk doesn’t ever get out of hand in a conflict. Banner worked alongside Tony Stark to develop the Ultron program as a peacekeeping initiative.

It’s no secret that the two were fairly buddy-buddy at the end of The Avengers, riding off into the sunset in Stark’s Acura. In all honesty, I’m excited for the fan fiction that’s bound to pop up around their time spent together working on Ultron.

Perhaps the biggest revelation to come out of all of the descriptions are details on a few of the villains to be featured in the movie. For instance, Andy Serkis recently revealed what role he’d be playing, and now we’ve got a fairly detailed portrait of who he actually is.

Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) is a black-market arms dealer, smuggler and gangster operating out of South Africa. He is a former acquaintance of Tony Stark’s from his weapons-dealing days and a powerful new player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Finally, aside from the eponymous Ultron, there’s Baron Strucker, who was last seen in the Captain America: The Winter Soldier mid-credits stinger minding his secret underground HYDRA bunker before revealing Loki’s scepter and “the Twins,” Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Baron Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) is a brilliant HYDRA scientist who worked under the cover of S.H.I.E.L.D. for far too long. Human experimentation, advanced robotics and artificial intelligence are just a few of the things Strucker is working on when Wanda and Pietro Maximoff volunteer for his program.
