Cast and Creators of Legend of Korra Bid Farewell at Final Comic Con Panel

Avatar fans may well have paused in whatever they were doing yesterday, some time between 5 and 6pm Eastern Time, as they suddenly felt sad for no reason that they could figure out. This may have been because of NYCC's Legend of Korra panel, the last major con appearance of the cast of the show during the tenure of the Avatar franchise.

Avatar fans may well have paused in whatever they were doing yesterday, some time between 5 and 6pm Eastern Time, as they suddenly felt sad for no reason that they could figure out. This may have been because of NYCC’s Legend of Korra panel, the last major con appearance of the cast of the show during the tenure of the Avatar franchise.

According to io9, the panel included an early screening of a new episode and plenty of concept art, as per usual for Korra panels. But in tribute to the end of the four season show, the panel also revealed an early audition tape, the first time that Janet Varney, P.J. Byrne, and David Faustino ever got together and played Korra, Bolin, and Mako.

The actors shared their thoughts and memories of the tape, thanking fans and show creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Byrne had some happy thoughts for those who might be mourning the planned end of the show: “We have two creators over there with some of the best creative minds in the world… I can’t wait for the next project that’s hiding deep in the dark crevices of their brains.”

We had a chance to ask Konietzko and DiMartino whether any of the stuff in those deep crevices was ready to share yet yesterday at the con, so be sure to check back in the next few days to see their answers! For more details on yesterday’s panel, check out the full recap at io9.
