A new report would land a Harry Potter film director in the chair for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Which one? David Yates.
Previously we were devastated to find out Alfonso Cuarón would not be tackling the film based on J.K. Rowling’s book. But Yates directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2, and they were all pretty great, so I won’t be complaining if this comes to pass.
Variety‘s sources say he’s agreed to return, explaining that “No deal has been made but insiders confirm both sides are in negotiations. Warner Bros. had no comment on this story.”
The film is meant to hits theaters November 18, 2016, and while we’ve yet to hear any word on casting, they did recently find some filming locations.
