China Builds World’s Fastest Supercomputer

Named Tiahne-1A, China’s new supercomputer trumps America’s top supercomputer dog, the Jaguar. This comes as no surprise, considering we’re way past Jaguar and all the way up to Snow Leopard now. Yep, I just subjected you to that.

According to nVidia, who supplied parts for the supercomputer, Tianhe-1A clocked in at 2.507 petaflops, which accounts for more than two quadrillion calculations per second.

The Jaguar, the former fastest supercomputer in the world, clocks in at around 1.75 petaflops. It also turns out Valve wrote the tagline for the Jaguar:

Right at the end of the trailer, it becomes clear that either the US government built GLaDOS and renamed her Jaguar, or the writing team at Valve secretly builds supercomputers when they’re not working on video games:
