Wesley Coller, producer of various Zack Snyder projects, recently talked to MLive about his career past and present, and, naturally, that included some questions about Wonder Woman.
[My daughter’s] favorite book is this little Wonder Woman flip book. It has the lasso, the invisible plane, the bracelets – every page has an image she’s just in awe with. And something that’s become a reality, being a dad with a new daughter, is that I have a special place in my heart for the idea of a strong, empowered female superhero being out there.
It’s true, thinking of the feelings of a daughter, sister, mother, or female significant other is often the easiest way to get a guy to consider the female perspective. Admittedly, the ideal situation is one in which a person considers the female perspective often because women are human beings, not beginning at a later stage in life when they find they are responsible for the mental growth of one.
But hey, the guy means well. It’s not his fault that nobody has to justify male superhero movies by saying “think of the children we’ll inspire!” anymore, they’re just accepted as a popular genre worth participating in. So Wonder Woman’s really important to girls, how about a solo film?
We’re super excited to have her in the film, it will be a ton of fun, but at the same time, we’ve got to stay focused on the film we’re working on now.
You saw that coming. And look, Coller isn’t Warner Bros., he’s a Zack Snyder collaborator. He very likely doesn’t know what’s coming down the pipeline after The Movie Currently Known as Batman vs Superman Because It Still Doesn’t Have a Real Title Yet. But you know who would never, ever say “we’ve got to stay focused on the film we’re working on” when asked about what’s coming in the future from the franchise? Marvel Entertainment.
Of course, they haven’t greenlit a solo superheroine film either.
