I can’t lie, I’m not exactly sure what to make of this mashed potato vending machine. On the one hand, I’m not sure how appealing mashed potatoes are when they are delivered in a Slurpeesque fashion; on the other, I do love eating mashed potatoes without all the hassle and stress of making mashed potatoes. These machines can’t be found in every 7-Eleven, but if you manage to find one, the mashed potato dispensing automaton will surely invoke mixed feelings of shame and satisfaction.
The Instant Mashed Potato Machine is produced by Swiss sauce, seasoning, and instant soup company, Maggi. The machines are generally found in 7-Elevens outside the U.S. and are very popular in Singapore. Tecca managed to score an interview with a 7-Eleven higher-up who told them that “each 7-Eleven owner is responsible for requesting such hardware for their specific locations.” Therefore, in theory, even your local 7-Eleven could be getting a mashed potato dispenser!
I’m still just don’t know about this one, folks. Maybe it’s just too close to a mashed potato Slurpee and maybe it’s just the unknown origin of the potatoes in question. I doubt you would open that sucker up to find anything approved by the Idaho Potato Commission. This whole situation also calls the broken Slurpee machine to mind. You know exactly what I mean. You pull the lever expecting a cool slurpable beverage; but instead you get a few turds of melted ice and straight syrup that fires in every direction and stains your shirt. Now take that image and apply it to mashed potatoes and gravy. Still not convinced? Take a look at the video below.
I rest my case.

- Translucent chips would go great with mashed potato water
- Eat your mashed potatoes in the dark with the hand-cranked vending machine
- Dual-chamber Slurpee cup. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Nope.
