Some Wonder Woman Concept Art You Haven’t Seen

Artist Colleen Doran is now sharing some of the designs she did for the Wonder Woman: Odyssey storyline. Doran, who was asked by J. Michael Straczynski–who she worked with on Book of Lost Souls years ago–to sketch some more fantasy-oriented versions of the character. She makes sure to note that these were more ruminations/concept sketches, and are unlikely to ever be used for anything. But they’re pretty damn pretty, so let’s look at them.

And you can buy them! According to Doran:

Since there is no original color art here, I will provide a copy of the color print out for the buyer of the pencil sketch. All three original pencil sketches are on one piece of acid free paper. Two color sketches will be on one piece of paper.

The right one sure looks a lot more ancient Mediterranean.

I’m sorry .. I can’t take the tie/loin cloth one seriously. but I like the one with the skirt and the slightly starry hair.. that would have been a nice one to go with.

I like the third one to the right on the top picture, for some reason.

I will never accept the american flag theme/reference in her outfit though, as that never made any damn sense to begin with.

Coloured version on the right and far right of the pencil versions are a couple of the best Wonder Woman designs I’ve ever seen. Maybe a bit too busy compared to the original, but a whole lot prettier than the pants version.
