Your Weird Fantasy Creature Taxidermy Post of the Day

We’ll issue a slight warning for those who are a bit squeamish by the thought of using deceased animals for art, because this is a post chock full of them. Artist Enrique Gomez De Molina has conjured up a new flock of fantastical creatures. They’re so wacky and imaginative that they’re like Photoshop: IRL.

This one is called “Earth Spirit.”

You know, just doing the usual daily stuff, walking my pet beetle …

Don’t annoy this one. Just don’t. Ever.

The expression “Doesn’t know if it’s coming or going” comes to mind. Not to mention Lady Gaga.

This one is called “Pandamonium,” and it’s obvious why.

This creature was almost cast in a Harry Potter movie, but had a scheduling conflict.

The Squirdle made a few scenes, but ended up on the cutting room floor.

And something regal and colorful and wonderfully odd:

I actually prefer these over regular taxidermy. It’s one step away from just a dead animal, so it doesn’t give me that sick feeling in my stomach.

I can’t stand to look at really bad taxidermy, where they completely decimate the animal.

My dad has a huge turkey poised for flight in our living room that scares the bajeezus out of anyone that enters our house, despite my attempts to make him more approachable by naming him “Tomás.” Perhaps integrating a squirrel tail somehow will make him more endearing.

Love it, these creations are seriously amazing!
