The Princess Bride Cast Reunites On Good Morning America

Here’s some adorable to start your weekend with. Twenty-four years after the movie’s release, Good Morning America brought most of the living cast of The Princess Bride together (pretty much everybody except Mandy Patinkin and Fred Savage), and everyone proceeds to be really, really amazing.

Highlights: Billy Crystal‘s hat, stories about Andre the Giant, and Robin Wright rocking a badass not-so-princessy haircut.

Also, folks, why are you all asking Wallace Shawn about The Princess Bride? He was in all of the Toy Story movies, Monsters, Inc., and The Incredibles, for heaven’s sake! Ask him about those!

Cary Elwes looks great and is still awesome.

When people ask me what my favorite movie is this is what I answer. However, it feels like such a cheat considering how cross genre and wonderful it is.

Oooh! That is so awesome! I remember being so upset when I found out Andre the Giant had died. However, most of the cast was there for the reunion, which is nice.

    My name is Inigo Montoya.

Too bad Patinkin wasn’t there. I liked him as the reaper boss in Dead Like Me, too.

Wally may have been in all those other films, but his catchphrase was from this one.  Nobody goes around screaming “Were you scared?”

Indeed, for many of the cast, this may not be their “best” film (Do see My Dinner With Andre if you haven’t) but it’s certainly the one they’re the most remembered for.  Not to the point of being typecast, thank god.  But if you think about it, Cary Elwes has gone out of his way not to play a hero again. he’s become one of the go-to guys in hollywood to play a smarmy jerk.

In honesty, were I to meet Mandy Patinkn, I’d kvell about this, but I’d also tell him how good he was in Alien Nation…and then ask to do a duet with him on Poisoning Pigeons in the Park.

BTW, for the theatrically inclined, Wallace Shawn also was a political and controversial playwright. My Dinner with Andre is probably the most well-known–the whole movie is just two guys talking, and it’s actually pretty interesting,

80′s movies are all awesome. This is definitely near the top of the list.

THAT, was a pretty awesome Bill Clinton impersonation.

I did meet Mandy Patinkin once, after a solo concert in the early 1990s.  He was nice enough to humor two music/genre-loving teenage girls and obliged us with the Inigo Montoya line.
