Watch Stephen Colbert and Missy Cummings Play With Small Flying Robots
by Alanna Bennett | 5:42 pm, July 28th
Missy Cummings, one of the Navy’s first female fighter pilots and current Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics Director at MIT, who designs semi-autonomous flying surveillance drones, appear on The Colbert Report last night. Cummings is trying to make technology easier for humans to use, designing smart-phone operated drones–that Colbert then proceeds to test out.
“How do I know that this flying little robot here is R2D2 and not the HAL 9000″ “Because it has an American flag on it.” “You know what, you’re speaking my language.” Then they play Rock-’em-Sock-’em Robots. I smell the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
