ABC’s Once Upon A Time is getting ready for Season 5, where Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) will head into Camelot and search for Merlin.
Liam Garrigan will play King Arthur and Joana Metrass will play Guinevere (will Lancelot be in this? You can’t do Camelot without Lancelot). Loyal knight Percival will be played by Andrew Jenkins and Wizard Merlin by Elliot Knight.
It seems like Merlin has a very important role so it’s great to see the role go to Knight, whose previous roles include the title character of Syfy’s Sinbad and a recurring role on ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder. Also, points to the show for not casting an all-white Camelot with ridiculous defenses of historical accuracy.
I’m also low-key really into medieval literature so I’m excited to see these characters and what stories (The Green Knight? The Lady of Shalott?) they’ll incorporate into the new season. If they include Sir Gawain and the Lady Ragnell where the entire moral of the story is that women should have their own choice, I’ll be very happy.
