Toy Short Story Shows Us The Island of Abandoned Happy Meal Toys

Just in case you didn’t have enough motivation to see The Muppets already, the movie will be airing with a brand new Pixar short set in the Toy Story… universe? I guess?

I suppose a series definitely has its own unique setting if I find myself interested to see them go into the detail of how it works. As in this short story, which is going to show us how those cheap, plastic, sort-of-functional Happy Meal toys fare in a world where toys are sentient and want to be loved. This… is going to be depressing, isn’t it?

I was actually really good about keeping and using the Happy Meal toys for years. I wasn’t satisfied with just a doll house, so I turned the entire playroom into a town and I needed the Happy Meal toys to occupy it!

What cracks me up is that since around 2006, Disney and Pixar haven’t had Happy Meal Toys, because Steve Jobs was opposed to marketing fast food to kids. Now that he’s passed, I wonder if they’ll try and get back into the Happy Meal biz?
