Netflix and Bill Nye Will Experiment With a New Show: Bill Nye Saves the World

So he's going to fight Scott Pilgrim?

Our Friend Bill Nye has long been trying to “change the world” by bringing science to the masses—at the very least since Bill Nye the Science Guy first aired in 1993—but now he and Netflix have an ambitious new goal: saving the world. In spring 2017, Bill Nye Saves the World will debut on Netflix, full of science, special guests, and probably all the nostalgia you can handle.

Things have changed since the Science Guy’s original show went off the air, though, and he’ll use his new platform to “discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience,” he said in a press release from Netflix. The new show is billed as a talk show, but it will feature “special guests, […] experiments and demonstrations,” so it sounds like it’ll be a mix of talk format and old-school science show.

I’m imagining Last Week Tonight but with scientific experiments, explosions, and (of course) Bill Nye, and that sounds just perfect to me. (Especially if this is anything to go by.)
