There may not be much Black Widow merch, but Marvel is doing something really awesome for smart girls in the real world. In their recently-announced Ant-Man Micro-Tech Challenge, Marvel, along with several other corporate and science sponsors, is seeking out girls who are into the sciences and challenging them to create really small tech.
As reported by Comic Book Resources:
In conjunction with corporate partners Dolby Laboratories and VISA as well as miniature computer-creating and education-focused charity the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Marvel has put out a call for young women to express their love of smaller-than-average science and technology for a chance to win tickets to the Ant-Man premier alongside an Evolution of Technology workshop at Disneyland in addition to having their tech-based ideas modeled for even younger girls in their home communities.
It’s cool that they’ll not only be rewarded themselves for their creativity and intelligence, but they’ll have the chance to inspire girls even younger than they are to get into the sciences! The rules can be found at the Ant-Man Micro-Tech Challenge website, and the deadline to enter is June 11th. So, if you, or anyone you know is a budding Jemma Simmons or Jane Foster or, you know, the engineering version of one of those ladies, get to submitting those ideas!
