I know some of my fellow bibliophiles balk at the idea of cutting pages, but I have a real soft spot for book art. What I love most about these evocative sculptures by Malena Valcárcel is their suggestion that something within each book is alive. They look as if their contents are pouring out into our world, becoming part of the reader’s reality. Exactly what happens when you crack open a good book.
