The Future Is Now!

The Invisible Bike Helmet, Yet Another Awesome Invention by Ladies

Swedish industrial designers Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin have created head protection for cyclists that isn’t bulky, uncomfortable, or unsightly – in fact, it doesn’t even look like it’s there at all. Learn more by watching this short documentary or going to their website.

Reminds me of the protective collision gear Y.T. wore in Snow Crash.

  • Vian Lawson

    1. That is beyond awesome; shut up and take my money.
    2. There is no #2.

So proud of my fellow Swedes <3

My office mate is a cycling enthusiast. I’ll have to make sure he sees this.

That’s cool, but I’d be too worried about it glitching and failing to inflate.

I mean, it really is a cool idea, but I’d personally rather have something guaranteed to be on my head because I clipped it on, rather than an airbag with even a 0.0000000000001% failure rate.

haven’t finished the video yet, but i have to ask: does this require an invisible bike as well?

  • Lucine

    Of course.

A helmet isn’t a guarantee. I like mine and I feel not safe without one, but it could fail, it could be the reason why I’d die in a crash, those things happen.

  • Electrical Rat

Looks bulky and I don’t think I’d want to wear it in the summer. My helmet has a lot of air vents (which I can cover up in winter), so it’s really nice to wear even in the summer heat. But still, the idea and what they did so far is awesome.

    Fair enough.

I’d just rather have something I know is there providing some guaranteed protection rather than something that needs to discharge in an instant to provide potential protection.
