Fantastic!

You don’t have to travel through space and time to see your name in the ancient language of the Time Lords. You can just check out the online shop for Washington State artists and BFFs Illyana and Kristen.

“My best friend and I are both artists and geeks and we both make stuff for the shop. We met working for the same company and are very close friends that geek out over the same things,” says Kristen.

Called GeekGoddessCreations, the shop is a virtual paradise for the chic geek, featuring beautiful hand-painted jewelry boxes, sculpted clay figures, cameo pendants and other stunning jewelry inspired by fan favourites like Harry PotterThe Legend of Zelda, FireflyFinal FantasyThe Lord of the Rings and more. But their most popular items, says Kristen, are their hand-painted wooden pendants, customizable with the name of your choice in Gallifreyan. The designs are based on a fan-made version of the Doctor Who language created by artist Lauren Sherman.

“I had gotten a custom order request to alter my TARDIS jewelry box design to have a message in Gallifreyan painted on the drawers. The concept of the personal message in a very beautiful geeky visual format was really fun and I wanted to do more things with it.  When the idea of the name pendants popped into my head I was excited because I knew it was a cool idea and they are definitely our most requested item,” Kristen says. “I sketch out the word to make sure it looks visually pleasing and can fit on the pendant, then I hand paint it on a pre-cut wooden circle. The pendant gets a nice glossy protective finish and a bail is added on the back so it can hang from a chain or cord.”

Definitely cooler than a bowtie.
