Facebook Users Shame Spielberg for Hunting Triceratops

A meme 21 years in the making.

This picture was posted on Facebook yesterday by clever girl guy Jay Branscomb with the troll-licious caption

Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man.

What started out as an obvious joke (albeit one that definitely reminded me of the recent uproar surrounding Kendall Jones‘ Facebook hunting pictures) has now been picked up by news outlets across the globe, partially because Branscomb might have revealed the surprising number of Internet users with zero understanding of satire or, apparently, Jurassic Park.

I’m not sure if Branscomb believes the countless comments like “he’s [Spielberg] a disgusting inhumane prick I’d love to see these hunters be stopped” are facetious, but I definitely think at least a small subset of Facebook users are thirsting for the blood of Steven Spielberg: Dinosaur Hunter. This is the Internet we’re talking about here, after all. Hell, I bet some people don’t even know the upcoming Jurassic World is a documentary!
