Fashion for Nonhumans

Comic Book Inspired Fashion: The Wave Of The Future (Or Now?)

I’ve long been a fan of anything comic related appearing on my clothing but that usually entails a Batman symbol on a t-shirt. Designers and fan/designers are going out of their way to create unique fashion based on our favorite heroes. Hit the jump for some more delightful Avengers sketches plus Jack Kirby inspired fashion, and a dress made out of comic strips!

Here’s the rest of the stylish Avengers by KaciArt. They are all something I would try on but I’m all over that Captain America outfit.

From Fashion Tips from Comic Strips I found this delightful Modcloth dress. But don’t bother, it’s already sold out.

And now for some runway fashion inspired by Jack Kirby, you know, the artist responsible for creating Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, and more? Fashionising has a slew of pictures from a runway show by designer duo Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett in a partnership with Marvel. Here are a few highlights.

That last one is kind of startling!

OMG, what is with those eyebrows?! I will never get runway fashion. OTOH, I can’t decide which of those Avengers-inspired outfits I want to wear more, Thor or Captain America, although they all rock :)

the Captain America one would make you look kinda hippy

The purple and green hulk outfit makes me think more of the Joker. I might have seen hulk more if it had been a pair of shorts with green tights. See like they did with IM. But seriously love it for the Joker.

I really love the first designs pictured. Not all of them are my style, I must admit – the Iron Man one just feels too on-the-nose for my tastes for some reason, and the one for The Hulk just doesn’t feel especially inspired, but I really really love the Captain America, the Thor, and the Hawkeye. I feel like they both fit nicely into my personal style (or what my personal style would be if I had any balls to actually wear something like that casually), and would work really well as kickass but low-key cosplay outfits.

And now I’m off, to see what else that artist has done! *zoom*

Oh, my, that’s a Red Hulk in the crotch of a pair of shorts.  No, I don’t need that.

I would buy the Captain America one.

Such a beautiful innuendo that I shed a single tear of joy.

I need that Thor outfit to be real so I can wear the hell out of it.
