What in the Black Mirror Episode? Donald Trump now wants foreign tourists to show their browsing history to enter the country

When it comes to disappointments, you can always expect more from the United States President Donald Trump. I mean, disappointing people is all he has done since assuming office this year, except for his Republican friends, who are definitely happy with what he is doing since they cannot stop publicly singing his praises.
Having said that, Donald Trump has perhaps done the most obnoxious thing that he has ever done in his two terms as President. I mean, it’s a tough feat to achieve given how ridiculous he is, but I assure you that I mean it when I say that. According to reports circulating online, Donald Trump has allegedly made it mandatory for people visiting the United States as tourists to provide their social media histories from the last five years to enter the country. If you don’t trust social media platforms, then you can always Google the information and find for yourself that what I am saying is indeed true. Several news outlets on the internet report that the information was provided straight from the Department of Homeland Security in a notice this week. In addition to revealing the details of their online presence, foreign individuals, while visiting the United States, irrespective of their purpose, will also be required to divulge additional information about themselves, which includes email IDs they have used for the past 10 years and the personal information of immediate family members (including phone numbers and residences).
Although Trump’s demands on foreign visitors seeking to enter the United States are objectionable, they cannot simply be described as such without acknowledging the deeper socio-political implications involved. It is evident that he does not hold a positive view of immigrants, as he has repeatedly demonstrated his disdain through various actions and policies aimed at making their lives more difficult. Just recently, he declared that he would tighten vetting procedures and would no longer welcome immigrants from nations like Afghanistan and Somalia. In the midst of all this, his resistance to visitors from abroad merely highlights his deep-seated racism and white supremacist ideologies, which position him and his nation as superior, while viewing other countries and their inhabitants as mere outsiders or “aliens” unworthy of kindness and respect.
Trump’s expectations for foreign visitors have drawn harsh criticism from individuals who are primarily concerned about the significant impact the American tourism industry will face if visitors are required to meet such outrageous criteria for entering the country.
