‘Shoutout TSA’: Woman’s Aritzia socks go missing. Then TSA makes her boyfriend take his shoes off

woman shares how tsa helped her (l) tsa security check (r)

Taking your shoes off at the airport can feel like an odd experience. However, for TikToker Sasha Yermakov (@sashayermakov), this move proved instrumental in reuniting her with one of her prized possessions.

The clip, which has amassed 22,800 views, consists of her boyfriend walking around with his shoes off while going through TSA. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that he’s wearing Aritzia socks—but they don’t belong to him.

That much is true based on the on-screen text penned by Yermakov, which reads, “Shoutout TSA for exposing my boyfriend. I have been looking for my Aritzia socks for a week.”

Given the value of the socks, commenters were cringing. “He is stretching the socks,” one complained. “He doesn’t even know those are like $42,” a second wrote. While a third pointed out that “they always like our stuff more then their own.”

Also in the comments, it soon became apparent that Yermakov wasn’t exactly having a unique experience.

“Didn’t realize this was a universal experience,” a fourth noted. “Girl!!! Same here,” a fifth said. “Now they are too big for my small feet.” While a sixth shared, “I make mine take them right off IMMEDIATELY… like Sir, I already buy you some so you DON’T WEAR MINE.”

How much are Aritzia socks?

While one commenter estimated the sock price as $42, this wasn’t exactly right.

On the Aritizia website, the socks in the video are listed as $17.50 for a three-pack, and up to $35 for a five-pack.

So, while it’s not expensive enough to put a dent in your bank account, it’s definitely costlier than your average sock. So, it makes sense that Yermakov would want to keep them for herself.

How common is it for your partner to steal socks?

Over on the r/relationship_advice subreddit, it’s clear that this problem of significant other sock-stealing is pretty common—albeit not just with stealing designer socks, but with stealing socks in general.

In response to one Redditor who explained her boyfriend’s “crazy irritating” habit, users had pretty strong opinions about it all.

“This may merit a conversation about his entitlement and how he is apparently fine doing something that clearly irritates you because it’s more convenient for him to just do what he wants,” one wrote. “The reasoning it bothers you doesn’t matter, the fact that he doesn’t think he should have to make such a small change to his behavior does. How hard is it to actually spend an extra two or three seconds picking the correct size socks out of a sock drawer?”

While a second added, “This isn’t a sock problem. It’s a disrespect problem.”

In addition to this, a third dubbed it “unacceptable behavior.”
