Trump’s latest ‘RINO’ villain is Thomas Massie’s wife, who actually voted for Trump three times
Women are always Trump’s target.

Donald Trump’s MAGA loyalty cult is running out of targets, so he’s inventing new ones now. Today’s villain of the day? Thomas Massie’s wife, Carolyn Moffa.
On Feb. 2, 2026, Trump posted a Truth Social rant attacking Thomas Massie and, unnecessarily, his new wife. Trump claimed “people are saying” Massie “became a Liberal” because his wife is supposedly a “Radical Left ‘flamethrower.’” He also added that the marriage happened so fast Massie “didn’t know what he was getting into.” Yes, that was his argument.
After getting the insult off his chest, Trump did what he always does after belittling his political opponents. He stapled it to an endorsement. He promoted Ed Gallrein as Massie’s primary challenger and framed the entire race around obedience.
Thomas Massie’s wife votes for Trump
Trump called Massie “disloyal to the President of the United States, and the Republican Party.” He branded him a “RINO… or maybe even worse.” But Massie quickly responded with the one fact Trump’s rant can’t survive: his wife voted for Trump three times. He then followed with a second post mocking the attention:
“Who knew Carolyn would also get free rent in Trump’s head when she married me! I guess that’s just one of the perks.”
The problem, is not just that Trump dragged a spouse into his rant. It’s the logic. His accusation isn’t “Massie changed his votes.” It’s “Massie married the wrong woman.” That is anything but a political critique. He is defending himself from the idea that a Republican could disagree with him without being “converted” by a villain.
And that’s why the “RINO” label keeps rotting into meaninglessness. RINO no longer means “not conservative.” It just means “not submissive” and “you didn’t behave like my property.” So, if Carolyn Moffa really voted for Trump three times, then Trump’s latest “villain” isn’t a radical leftist. It’s his own MAGA base that he’s unaware of.
Disloyal to whom?
Trump mentioning that Massie is “disloyal to the President of the United States” and “the Republican Party” is also telling. He frames it as a villainous move. But members of Congress aren’t elected to be loyal to a man. They swear an oath to the Constitution. So, Trump basically rewrote representative democracy as personal fealty. You’re either loyal to him, or you’re a traitor.
And Trump’s tantrum makes even less sense on its own terms. If Massie’s wife supported Trump in three elections, she’s literally the kind of voter Trump claims to prize. She is loyal and consistent. Yet in Trump’s telling, she’s a “Radical Left” arsonist. He probably did not know Massie’s wife is his supporter. But he doesn’t need to know that anymore. Because if she read the post, she might just be considering becoming the flamethrower he accuses her to be.
Trump has a long history with Massie
The hostility between Trump and Massie has history, long before Trump decided the new wife was the plot twist. Massie has repeatedly irritated party leadership by voting against the Republicans in the House multiple times. After he began lobbying for the Epstein Files release, Trump blasted him as a “RINO.” He has also called for Republicans to “throw Massie out” multiple times (via The Washington Post)
Massie has long been positioned as the internal Republican problem-child. But most of Trump’s dislike for Massie comes precisely because Massie won’t convert “GOP” into “Trump.” So the wife angle is just a convenient new weapon for Trump.
Attacking Massie’s wife failed miserably for Trump
Trump’s attack on Massie’s wife might also be a tactic to enforce obedience. He’s sending a message that if you disagree with him, he will target your family, your marriage, and your personal life. Oh, and he will comfortably call it “politics.”
Trump loves attacking a woman anyway. So, he picked the first one he saw close to Massie and called her a “flamethrower.” Without a single rational thought, he shoved her into the stock role of corrupting influence. And notice the construction: “People are saying” is the oldest trick in demagoguery. Trump had no source, no evidence, and no accountability.
Because, of course, Trump doesn’t have to prove she’s “Radical Left.” He only has to say that someone somewhere whispered it, and MAGA will treat it like a charge sheet. Yet, Massie’s response punctured his narrative exactly where it hurts.
