‘Slap In the Face to Our Country’: To the Surprise of Absolutely Nobody, Trump is Having a Meltdown About the Super Bowl Halftime Show
The Super Bowl Halftime Show, which is always a spectacle featuring the biggest names in music, is usually the highlight of the event even for those who may not be football fans. This year was a much-talked-about performance featuring Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, which has already shattered Super Bowl records as the most-watched performance in history with 135+ million viewers, breaking the record of 133.5 million by last year’s performer Kendrick Lamar.
It also made history for being the first mostly-Spanish musical performance.
Of course, that has not gone down well with the right, especially those in the MAGA base. President Donald Trump has vocally opposed Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl, and even launched a counter halftime show called Turning Point USA’s “All-American” Super Bowl halftime show. Headlined by Kid Rock, the show–which was streamed–only garnered around roughly four million views.
Now, one would think that somebody so vocally opposed would be watching Kid Rock perform instead. Not Trump. Trump is a hater through and through, and video has surfaced of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance playing at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago party.
Hating is a lifestyle, and Trump lives it
As a hater myself, I do have to respect the dedication. Also, Kid Rock is awful and nobody should have tuned in to that pre-recorded, lip-synced mess. At least get somebody good. Nicki Minaj would have been a better choice.
Around a half-hour after Bad Bunny stepped off the field and the Patriots and the Seahawks continued to play solely between the 20-50 yard lines, Trump took to Truth Social to rant.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” the President fumed. “This “Show” is just a “slap in the face” to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”
Sometimes I really wish I could live in his world. It must be so nice.
One thing that is crucial to remember is that Bad Bunny is an American citizen. Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Just because you’re racist and xenophobic does not mean that you can discount a territory that we quite literally possess. You know who aren’t American citizens? Most of the Halftime Show performers from the last ten years. But that doesn’t fit the narrative.
Secretly, though, we know Trump was vibing to Bad Bunny. Why else would he be so mad? C’mon, tell us your favorite song, we won’t judge.
