This North Carolina Senator has a cheeky response to Trump calling him a ‘loser’, and it is hilarious

North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is proving that he doesn’t give two hoots about what President Donald Trump says about him. On being asked by CNN’s Manu Raju during a press interaction what he has to say about Trump calling him a “loser”, Tillis said that he was “thrilled.”
Following the fatal shooting of intensive care nurse, Alex Pretti, in Minneapolis last week at the hands of ICE agents, a lot of Republicans who were otherwise supportive of Trump’s actions, including his approval of United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, have turned their backs against them. Notable among those names is Thom Tillis, who has demanded a “thorough” investigation into Pretti’s shooting. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tillis wrote on January 25, 2026:
There must be a thorough and impartial investigation into yesterday’s Minneapolis shooting, which is the basic standard that law enforcement and the American people expect following any officer-involved shooting..”
In his post, he also stated that the specific incident requires “cooperation and transparency between federal, state, and local law enforcement adding, while referring to Kristi Noem, that “any administration official who rushes to judgment and tries to shut down an investigation before it begins are doing an incredible disservice to the nation and to President Trump’s legacy.” Legacy? I am not sure about that, but man does make a fair point if you ignore just that part. Tillis made similar statements about Noem while interacting with the press on Tuesday, saying that her actions in Minnesota “should be disqualifying” and that “she should be out of a job”, but refused to speak ill of Trump. However, he seems to have exceeded his tolerance threshold, as in a newly released interview moment that has gone viral on social media platforms like X, Tillis can be seen taking a sharp dig at Trump, who called him a “loser” for speaking against Noem and, in extension, him. When asked to comment on what he thinks of the president’s comments about him by CNN correspondent Manu Raju, Tillis said:
I am thrilled about that. That makes me qualified to be Homeland Security Secretary and Senior Adviser to the president.”
The video of the incident shared on X by Manu Raju has ignited a significant amount of discussion, with many individuals commenting on the post to express their views. Most comments are in favour of Tillis’ “mic drop” moment, and rightly so. Others come from MAGA supporters who are condemning him for speaking negatively about Noem and Trump.
