‘They did it on purpose’: Donald Trump is still pissed over his humiliating mishap at the UN

Donald Trump has not yet gotten over the embarrassment he faced during his UN visit due to a malfunctioning teleprompter, and he can’t stop voicing his complaints about it.

At a recent press conference, the President of the United States had a full-blown meltdown as he reminisced about how people at the United Nations allegedly tampered with his teleprompter to embarrass him in front of everyone. Talking about the incident, Donald Trump recounted how, after his name was called to appear on stage, he intentionally slowed down his pace upon realising that the teleprompter was not functioning.

Trump also emphasised how he had to come up with a speech on the spot to avoid feeling insulted in front of his friends, which included approximately 158 leaders, “some in beautiful silk white robes, others in bad shirts, bad ties, and some in beautiful shirts and ties.” He remembered feeling “stone cold blank” while looking at the teleprompter, but he admits that he did well, despite the hiccup

A part of Trump’s speech where he blames the United Nations for the teleprompter fiasco that occurred back in September is as follows:

I’m looking at the teleprompter, stone cold blank. They did it on purpose. And I think I gave my best speech. That’s what I was told. But it still wasn’t a great feeling. I’m walking up very slowly … because I see that they are not working. They are dead. They did it on purpose, but it worked out okay. Not great people.”

Following Trump’s statements, many people took to social media to discuss the incident. On platforms like X (formerly Twitter), a majority pointed out that it was Trump’s own team that was responsible for the teleprompter, making his accusations against the United Nations seem nonsensical. Others made jokes about Donald Trump, suggesting that the people he referred to as friends in the audience likely do not see him as such, hinting that their relationship is more transactional, owing to his status and theirs.
